We’re excited to announce that BitVMX has already began the process of open-sourcing a second wave of core components. This milestone means more than just a technical achievement, it’s an expression of the principles that drive us: transparency, collaboration, security, decentralization, interoperability, and the belief that shared infrastructure makes the ecosystem stronger for everyone.

BitVMX was designed from the ground up as a modular and composable system. Since the beginning of this journey, we’ve built internal tools to support key aspects of the architecture we envisioned: from secure key management and a robust storage backend, to smart configuration, blockchain simulators, Bitcoin Core orchestration, and RPC interfaces. These libraries, tools and core components have matured alongside our protocol stack, and now we’re opening them up for public use.

Why are we doing this?

We believe the best way to scale innovation is by lowering barriers of entry. Open-sourcing these components allows other researchers and developers to explore, adapt, and create upon what’s already been built, accelerating not just BitVMX’s progress, but the momentum of the broader community.

There is a lot more coming. We plan to maintain a regular cadence of releases, sharing more components as we continue to grow the framework. Our hope is that this ongoing initiative fosters collaboration, helps others prototype more easily, and supports the creation of more secure and scalable decentralized systems.

To be clear, the code we are open sourcing is still evolving and not yet production-ready as audits still need to be completed and more work may be required, but we’re confident it’s worth sharing now, and we’re committed to improving it in the open.
